PBP-Atl Reaches Another Important Milestone

November 20, 2011

I’ll never forget our first client, the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta. Back in late summer 2005, they asked for help with an employee benefits issue. Six years later, the Furniture Bank is still a client, along with 499 other Atlanta area nonprofits. That’s right – Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta accepted its 500th client last month. Each of those clients brings multiple legal matters to us and we match those matters with volunteer attorneys, which brings us to another number – 1600. That’s how many attorneys have volunteered with us since we started six years ago.

We are in the middle of a strategic planning process and I’m thinking a lot in terms of numbers, but I never want to lose sight of the people those numbers represent: the nonprofit leaders who want help making their organization stronger, the attorneys who give so generously of their time, and even the individuals that benefit from the work of the nonprofits we serve.

In this season of Thanksgiving, I want to thank everyone who has had a hand in Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta getting to this milestone – our Board of Directors, Advisory Committee, staff, volunteers, clients and, last but not least, our donors. None of this would be possible without the law firms, corporations, foundations and individuals that support us financially. With December 31 just around the corner, please take a moment to make a donation of any amount to Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta. We’ll make it easy for you, just click here!
