Application Instructions
2025 Deadline: August 22, 2025
All applicants must follow a two-step application process:
Step One: You will be asked to fill out a brief application (link below) in order to determine whether or not you meet the basic eligibility criteria for the program. Please see eligibility requirements and FAQs below. This application must be received by the application deadline listed below.
Step Two: Eligible nonprofits will receive a long-form application. Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis until the program has been filled. Priority is given to applications in the order that they are received.

What is PBPA’s Legal Bootcamp for Emerging Nonprofit Leaders?
PBPA’s Bootcamp is an interactive and dynamic program that equips the next generation of nonprofit leaders with the legal training and resources they need to run a successful nonprofit. The program includes tailored legal education, opportunities to connect and share experiences with other nonprofit leaders, and assistance developing a capacity building action plan.
The program covers the following units of study and leadership development:
- Board Roles and Responsibilities (board oversight, board versus staff roles and responsibilities, conflicts of interest)
- Managing People (volunteers and employees)
- Fundamentals of Staying Legal (IRS rules, taxes, fundraising laws, government filings, financial policies and procedures)
- Assessing and Addressing Risk (risk management, liability waivers, insurance, contracts, protecting your brand)
Depending on each organization’s individual circumstances, participants may receive policies and procedures such as liability waivers, board policies, financial policies, and fundraising policies.
Who is our ideal candidate?
Executive directors who are currently leading nonprofits with a primary purpose to assist low-income or disadvantaged individuals in Georgia. In order to be eligible for the program, your nonprofit must have:
- at least three active non-related board members;
- actual revenue of between $50,000-$500,000;
- at least one fully operational program; and
- one of the following: 1) 501(c)(3) status, 2) fiscal sponsorship by another 501(c)(3) nonprofit, or 3) a pending 501(c)(3) application.
PBPA client status is not required.
If I apply, am I guaranteed a spot?
No. Space is limited.
How much will it cost?
$75. Lunch for all sessions is included.
What are my obligations?
The program will include four in-person sessions. In addition, participants will be expected to engage in 2-4 hours of self-study prior to each session.
You must be available to attend ALL sessions IN PERSON:
- Module 1 – Tuesday, September 16, 2025, 10-3pm
- Module 2 – Tuesday, September 30, 2025, 10-3pm
- Module 3 – Tuesday, October 28, 2025, 10-3pm
- Module 4 – Tuesday, November 11, 2025, 10-3pm
In addition, you must:
- Respond to all calls and e-mails from PBPA staff in a timely manner;
- Fill out an evaluation at the completion of the program; and
- Inform your Board of Directors that you are participating in this program.
Can board members attend? How about other staff members?
No. This program is for executive directors only.
Does my participation in the Bootcamp mean that the nonprofit I lead is automatically a client of PBPA?
At the conclusion of the program, you may apply to become a PBPA client on behalf of your organization. However, your participation in Bootcamp does not guarantee that you will be accepted. PBPA has limited capacity to take on new clients. In addition, different criteria applies. You can learn more about the client application process here.
What happens if I leave my organization during Bootcamp?
Because the program results will directly benefit your nonprofit, you will not be able to continue in the program if you leave your position midstream.
