August 15, 2011

The success of the 2011 ACC-GA Value Challenge Event yielded a landmark contribution to Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta, bringing in over $30,000 for the organization in proceeds from the event. Held on March 24, 2011 and sponsored by Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP, Troutman Sanders, Bondurant, Mixson & Elmore, and CPA Global, the conference drew over 90 attorneys in attendance.

“Supporting in-house attorneys is a crucial part of Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta’s mission, and receiving this level of financial support from the association is truly encouraging.” Executive Director Rachel Epps Spears said.
The ACC-GA Value Challenge Event featured four general sessions covering a broad range of topics, from social media to legal project management, and saw participation from a wide array in-house attorneys of metro-Atlanta based corporations, including Home Depot and Delta Air Lines Inc.

“Our goal was to have an event that brought value to the ACC attendees, value to the sponsors, and ultimately benefited Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta, and we feel we succeeded,” event coordinator Geoffrey Frost said.

Frost, the Marketing & Professional Development Manager at Bondurant, Mixson & Elmore, was a member of the planning committee that was composed of both ACC-GA members and representatives from sponsoring law firms that devoted their time and efforts to making the ACC-GA Value Challenge Event an enormous success. ACC-GA President Virginia Wadsworth gave the morning welcome, and has been a staunch supporter of Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta and community outreach since taking the position in December.

“ACC-GA’s support of the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta is an excellent match for ACC-GA. Our alliance with the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta allows ACC-GA members to perform pro bono services for nonprofit organizations the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta services and nonprofit organizations receive high quality legal services without diverting funds away from serving their clients,” ACC–GA President Virginia Wadsworth said.

Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta thanks the ACC-GA for its continuing financial support and aid to the mission to provide in-house and transactional lawyers with new and rewarding pro bono opportunities.
